well, there was a scale
i don't know what just a shitty seat way at the back-behind a pole, cost...
probably hundreds
but as the seats got better
they went way up in price
till
if you wanted a seat right up front it was 35,000
and if you wanted a table with maybe some kinda meal and wine
it went as high as 50,000 dollars
or something like this
i think
if i remember
these were the kinda prices i heard quoted in news reports at the time
cripes!
i wonder if they charged 1000 dollars for a napkin
and 5000 for each fork and spoon?
i just remember thinking: 'how much could someone REALLY REALLY LIKE some goddam rock band?...
or how frikkin' rich and stupid
would one HAVE to be
to pay that kinda dough for a concert?'-
but, then....you hear about really rich people paying 10,000 dollars
and MORE
per night
for certain hotel rooms
so
i guess, at some point, if you've got hundreds of millions,
or BILLIONS,-
(and there are people who do)
and yer a TOTAL Eagles freak...
and they meant a huge BFD to you when you were young...
and they got you convinced this is gonna be the last chance to ever see them...
and, maybe you never got to see them in the early seventies
when you were a POOR eagles freak...
that doesn't seem like that much money
MUST BE NICE

Port - so dope....
Never caeered much for the eagles, i love both country and rock but their combo leaves me cold. Fucking luv hotel california tho - what a dope riddim, espsesh that bummmmmm guitar rifff at tha emd |
Me too, I never thought much about them either, occasionaly they had a good song, then my man Joe Walsh jumpd in, and things changed.
Even in the DVD, it appears to me the most popular songs are of the Joe Walsh era, ie Hotel California album and the Long Run. Although they dodged two of my LR faves, Those Shoes, and King of Hollywood. KOH is very dark.
well the songs they did indiviually were hits in the show too I thought. I've always liked Dirty Laundry. The music I think is what gets me, the words are kinda so what, if you hadn't been messing around with the jailbait, nobody woulda cared. _________________ "You know nothing of hell!"

looks like barnstorm was a one-year
one album-one shot band
i guess it was summer '72 or '73 that I saw them in Berkeley
********
Barnstorm (1972)
At this point Walsh and his rhythm section (Kenny Passarelli, bass, and Joe Vitale, drums) were going under the band name Barnstorm - self-proclaimed solo rock artists still were an oddity in 1972, and acts ranging from Peter Frampton to David Bowie also hid themselves behind nominal "rock bands" at this time. Vitale did write one track ("Giant Behemoth"), but the rest is basically Walsh's. Produced by Szymczyk; guests include Paul Harris, Al Perkins, and Chuck Rainey. (JA) _________________

These were the guys he did "The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get" with. I'll check the album cover, but I don't think they did that album as Barnstorm.
The first time I saw them was on the Midnight Special and they did what is pretty much Joe's signature song, Rocky Mountain Way. It sooooo kicked butt, even on that nasty old TV.
It was around 72 or 73.
I think that Midnight Special was the best music tv show ever, MTV included. _________________ "You know nothing of hell!"

mtv sucked balls compared to the midnight special
the most you could hope for
with mtv or vh1
was an occassional song you could STAND
(much like the radio)
******************
no--yer right--only one album was done under the name barnstorm
(that one in '72)
and it was just called barnstorm _________________
