Hello everybody. Roy nice to see you still buy yer writing ink
by the 50 gallon barrel lol. Brian Brian Brian have you got a
lawyer man? Something like estate contesting they might take
your case on contingency which means no money upfront. Pick
up the phone and talk to a couple of sharks. Anyway bro it's only
money. Don't let it be about dignity too. You are a creative man.
Pour your frustrations into your photoshop art and see what muse
can be mustered from the jaws of adversity.

Roy, I just saw "The Runaways" and it's a Raging Grrrrl Power Rock Flick
that I think you are bound to enjoy. Should drop on DVD pretty quick
as it only had a limited relese due to frankly shocking subject matter.
But anyway I loved the film. Who knew that vampire squeeze chick
Kristen Stewart could really act? She totally NAILS Joan Jett from
her mullet to her shoes. Dakota Fanning is even better as Cherrie Curry,
and the guy who plays the record producer nearly steals the show.
This first time director is GOING PLACES. Great Rock flick, but uh,
no kids in the audience please due to overwhelming teenage sex and drugs.

HOWS IT HANGIN EVERYBODY?
Life's still good up here in the Great White North.
I'll be checkin the board often now so everybody Holla.

-Jeff

GAWD i hope they're actually playing runaways music in THIS dang movie!

that documentary they made a few years back
they couldn't get joan jett to co-operate in ANY way
so they weren't allowed to play ONE NOTE of runaways music in it
they showed them playing on stage
but the sound was always off
or they played leather tuscadero music in the background
what a joke

and yeah
probably not going to be a kids' show
(although currie, and a coupla the other girls, were only 15 when they joined Shocked
and the oldest was only 17--MAN--the parents coulda got that manager
guy thrown in jail for a thousand years! (from what i gleaned from that
documentary)

GENIUS casting dakota fanning! Exclamation

actually LOOKS like her!

yeah
THIS:

was their LAST album, in the original line-up
the bassist (far right in this picture)
freaked out from stress and drugs during this japanese tour
and got replaced
and RIGHT after that, currie left, too
and it wasn't the same band at all
and they completely dissolved, very quickly
so, THIS is as old as they ever were--as the original band!

i ended up ordering all their albums, after i saw that documentary
they were actually surprisingly (musically) pretty darn good
(fer girls hehehe
and fer their age)
actually they were just pretty darn GOOD!)

i think the guitarist lena ford (second from right) is still rippin' (in some form)
and joan jett (second from left) pops up once in a while, still, of course
i heard the drummer died recently (middle girl in photo)

Yeah as to where I saw it, lets just say the internet gods
provided a studio screener for my review...

I intend to buy it. Lots of Runaways tunes. around 5 or 6
plus Joan Jet solo stuff. Not sure but I think the actors sang
the Runaways stuff and it rocked. The Joan Jett and all the other
great tunes in the movie was all the original artists though.

Yeah really the record producer guy nearly steals the movie
from the kids though coz he's totally nuckin futz.

The director is the biggest talent on this project though.
And how often does a first time feature director nail one out
of the ballpark?

Anyway now the trick is to keep my 12 year old from watching
the film. She thinks the vampire squeeze chick is uber cool.

Just checked The Runaways drops on DVD July 20th.
Not sure if it's still in the cinema coz I think it only
hit limited release. Again the subject matter was a bit much
for wide release. This one's gonna make it's money on store shelves
not @ the box office.

i know what you mean about the guy who's idea it was to create the band
he was pretty fascinating in the documentary
but for him it was just a machine to make himself money--and he just
happened to get some kids with real talent

he created a boot camp atmosphere for rock musicians
he used to do things like throw trash cans up onto the stage when they were practicing
and scream curse words at them constantly like a drill sergeant
etc
etc
etc
to toughen them up, for the road
but he had no sensibility as to what life touring as a rock band would do to
15-17 year old girls
and he didn't care
PLUS he was banging them all at the same time, apparently
that's why i say he coulda gone to jail

apparently ANOTHER deal they had to make, to get the documentary
made, (besides not playing any runaways music, in it, --because of joan
jett bitching about it) was they had to agree not to reveal a bunch of stuff
about him

in one scene, of the documentary--one girl is remembering how one day he locked them all in the room
and said "now i'm gonna teach you all how to FUCK"
(like because that would be necessary to learn in order to be tough enough for the road or something)
but then they purposely don't discuss much more about THAT
but they HEAVILY imply that that's what he was doing with them
one at a time
or in bunches i guess

i forget the guy's name now
but, apparently he wrote AHAB THE ARAB or something like that

that was his main previous claim to fame
or maybe it was ALLEY OOP

**
ok the film was called
Edgeplay: A Film About The Runaways (2004)
and i think the guys name was kim foley

oh
and the guitarist was LITA ford
not lena
and she just happened to be frikkin great

probably too great for that band, actually
but there it is
a flash in time that cooked up a weird band
that could never happen again

the donnas are the only ones who ever came close

Well hello all. Been a while since I've posted on any Pink Floyd forum.
I guess that's what happens when a band splits up (although I've always
wanted them to perform something from TFC Wink )

Well, the last time I posted I was probably at a shit hole called Capita.
Seriously, never work there. Got out of there last November thank
goodness. Since then, after getting used to driving to work and back for
the 1st time, I've joined a union and now I'm kind of limbo as to what to
do next. Do I carry on going for licenses/qualifications, or so I sit back
for a bit? Plus I've still got a load of books to read and DVD's to watch.
Then there's the minidics I've not listened to and the games I've not played Surprised

That's what spending ages looking for work, then being in a job you don't
like, while you're in a relationship and you have a dog does to you. I've
been catching up since I left Capita - you rarely get home in a good
mood when you work there.

yeah
know what you mean
old geezer and i were once talking aout how the EVERYTHING ELSE
section was about the only section anyone posted in anymore

and one of us said "well, once you've said "AIN'T PF GREAT" a zillion times
and they haven't played together for a coupla frikkin decades
and two of em are dead
what else ya gonna chat about? How many more times are you gonna say ain't pf great?"

hehe

the music will always be great, though
