It's not my favorite, it couldn't be, Roger isn't on it. But I really think that it is a cool album, but yet an internal fight.

well, most of you know...
i was rigjht there from piper on
and the roger dreary nightmare era
which never ended
really disappointed me

animals was the first floyd album i never bought

then the next floyd album i bought was division bell
and i thought it was pretty good
they now sounded old
and depresssed
"(the grass was greener--the light was brighter"-[the dope was better] Laughing )
but still a damn good album

how come they got old and i'm still young? (almost 53--but i still feel EXACTLY 20--and look about 30) Laughing

(act 14) Laughing Laughing Laughing Cool Wink

53 is a good age... for retirement... Laughing

No kidding, tastes are unique, and I don't contest them. I'm a Roger fan, I admit, more than David's one. I love the true stuff, though, never forget that Ummagumma is the one that was, is, and will be for me...

I knew there was something I liked about you. Anybody who likes Umma Gumma best has to be a cut above the rest.

I agree with DW (Now there's a big surprise).

I was ok with Roger until albums became all about him (Read the Wall). At the risk of sounding heartless, the man can write killer lyrics, when he chooses something besides 1) His dad dying when he was young, 2) The terrible generals who caused his dad to die, and 3)poltical bashing, . I am sorry about his dad, I have nothing but sympathy for him, my dad was key in my life, but I am tired of hearing about it. It's about half of the topics in The Wall, and too much of DSOTM.

The final straw for me was the firing of Richard. Maybe he deserved it, I don't know.

I have said this time and time again:

TDB is every bit as good as - say - Animals ...

Not a masterpiece in other words, but damn good.

The div bell along animals are floyds most under rated albums ever! Yet both classics in their own rights. I love the div bell, ok theres no roger but has dave says oh the day the wall come. With rogers departure floyd got rid of the down trodden self loutghingness of the waters floyd era!

Me too.

Dave's forte is music. Creating beautiful tunes, and TDB is the first album in a very long time where he does that.

Not with all the verve and attack of the pre DSOTM days, but it's there, the beauty, and songs finished like songs are never finished.

TDB was theraputic for the lads. And a lot of time spent on that.

Umma Gumma is the mother of all PF albums. All educated people agree on that.

Trade the dog, sell the boat, whatever but get that album.

It's my fave, especially the live cd. When I play that cd (I used to have the vinyl) I go back to a lot of places, but where I saw them live twice in little 1000 -1500 seat theaters stands out. That is EXACTLY how they sounded. With some imagination you can see them too.
