SPIRIT
/ FRESH-GARBAGE / TAURUS

TWO SONGS
FRESH GARBAGE
AND TAURUS
'fresh-garbage' / 'taurus'... from the debute album 'spirit' (1968)
if 'taurus' sounds like 'stairway to heaven' you're right, this is where led zeppelin stole the riff from. (more)

SPIRIT HAD TWO "RECORDS"
(STATISTICAL RECORDS)
THEY HAD THE TALLEST BALD DRUMMER OF ANY ROCK GROUP
6'8'' OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT
AND ALSO THE ONLY FATHER/SON COMBO IN A ROCK BAND
THE DRUMMER WAS RANDY CALIFORNIA'S DAD
THE SHAGGY CURLY HEADED GUY WAS RANDY
HE EVENTUALLY DROWNED

I Got A Line On You (or something like that) was hit numero uno for these guys, and still one of my favorites especially when I think of Mrs Geezer.

yeah
i got a line on you, babe
and mechanical soul were their two radio-played songs where i was
in the sixties

i think i may have posted one, or both, of those
somewhere in here
lemme look

Fleetwood Mac
Oh Well
1969

This song was the band's first hit
written and performed by Peter Green
their first lead guitarist
this guy was Fleetwoods Mac's Syd Barrett
rapidly became schizophrenic after their first album
and dropped out

In 1969, Fleetwood Mac sold more records than The Beatles and The Rolling stones,
put together
Shocked

Rockaway Beach Band
Tell Me All The Things You Do

been waiting a year for this song to show up
in a version by fleetwood mac
because they wrote this song
it came out on their fifth album KILN HOUSE

but this is the only version on youtube
to show up thus far
this version is about one eighty thousandth as ripper as the original Fleetwood Mac version
but, at least, you get to hear a faint, feeble idea of how good a song it is
if anyone finds a fleetwood mac version
please post it here
or let me know

these two songs are (in my opinion) the best songs they ever did
these were years before Lindsay Buckingham
or Stevie Nicks were in the band

THAT version of Fleetwood Mac got famous in the mid-seventies
and only had two original members:
Mick Fleetwood on drums
and John McVie on bass
but some version of "fleetwood mac" had been going for 7 years

That version of the band released RUMORS in 1975
that was THAT version's first album
it's like Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon
in the sense that tons of people think that's where Fleetwood Mac started
because it sold 19 million copies
very rapidly
and got MEGA OVER played on the radio Mad
but it was Fleetwood Mac's 16th album!
Shocked

THE WHO
Rock and Roll Circus tv special 1968
"The Mini-Opera"

on their second album, the Who had ten minutes of space to fill
so their producer kit lambert asked if they could write
"something linear, like a ten minute song?"
they thought this rediculous and impossible
because such wasn't done:
rock songs were always 2:50
so he said "then write a ten minute series of 2:50 songs"
so they wrote this
and it was the precurser to the rock opera

here's the plot:
a woman's husband stays away for a long time
so she finally has a tryst with a sooty old engine driver
then her husband, suddenly, comes home
and she confesses
and he forgives her
the end
Confused
